Reading the previous installment, Warm Bodies, (or watching the movie) isn’t a necessity. If you have, you’ll get a richer understanding, but if you haven’t, no big deal. That’s impressive, because I loved Warm Bodies, but I was sort of wary about a sequel. Don’t worry – Marion has expanded on Warm Bodies and brought us an action-packed, philosophical, futuristic powerhouse of a story. There are zombies trying to slowly regain their humanity, there are zombies who are not nearly human, there are survivors building a new world, and there is an eerie and mysterious new “Axiom Corporation” controlling the puppet strings somewhere. It’s a great read. Great fun, great adventure, and great writing. I loved R’s journey into self-discovery, I delighted in the mystery of the wholly unsettling Axiom Group, and I loved the band of resistance fighters scattered around what’s left of North America. The pages flew by. Definitely a must-read for fans of post-apocalyptic fiction and The Walking Dead.

Side note: This isn’t a book for the squeamish. It is about the undead and a bunch of humans desperately surviving, and there is some gruesome stuff in here. Zombies, you know. (Submitted by Veronica)

This book is so timely and important. It goes from a zombie apocalypse romance to an action-packed political drama while remaining true to itself and its origins. It is a fantastic commentary on what today's society could become without love and understanding and acceptance.

Isaac Marion is an amazing author. His words flow through me, chilling me and warming me over and over. I can't get enough of the strange and wonderful sensation the Warm Bodies series gives me. The Burning World brings together so many threads and seemingly unimportant elements into a grandly woven design. But the design is unfinished. Loose string hangs off the edges like broken limbs. I'm hungry for more. I'm hungry for The Living.

I much preferred Isaac Marion’s first novel ‘Warm Bodies’ and the movie to this sequel. This book in fact is the second installment in what is now a trilogy. The third installment is not yet released in late 2017. I presume the author was trying to convey the process of recall in R’s mind as his memories returned from his former life but at time there were small chapters in the book that I could not relate to the story at all and for that reason I found this book hard to follow at times and far less appealing.
