"What really makes love last? Does love ever work the way we say it does in movies and books and Facebook posts? Or does obsessing over those love stories hurt our real-life relationships? When her parents divorced after a twenty-eight year marriage and her own ten-year relationship ended, those were the questions that Mandy Len Catron wanted to answer. In a series of ... essays that takes a closer look at what it means to love someone, be loved, and how we present our love to the world, Catron deconstructs her own personal canon of love stories"

Well written, thoughtful, and out of the usual train of thought on the subject of love and relationships. An enjoyable and insightful read.

I'm listening to this in audio-book format, and as a young woman, I feel the content is extremely relate-able, thought-provoking and makes one think deeply about how we think about love. It looks at 3 generations of love stories, how we tell these stories and different perspectives on love. It is grounded in in-depth research about love, from personal experience, family stories and social-psychology books. It looks at the institution of marriage and how it has changed due to our changing priorities in our hierarchy of needs. Anecdotal and fun to listen to!
