Mere Christianity is a great look at what Christianity is from a layman’s perspective. Lewis takes a difficult subject and tackles it with the wisdom that God grants His people. The explanations are such as can be understood by Christians and non-Christians alike. Though Lewis makes many excellent points, I found his apparent belief in the theory of evolution to be distasteful. Whether or not he actually held the belief of evolution is unclear, but besides that, the book is a clear and simple explanation of what the author calls ‘mere’ Christianity. If you’ve ever had questions about what Christians believe, why they have reason to believe it, and how it affects their behavior, this is the book for you. Take your chance and see what the book has to say to you.
