I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You is a novel by Ally Carter and is the first in the Gallagher Girls series. Recommended for girls of any age, it inspires them in particular to be whatever they want to be and follow their heart no matter what; through hard work and dedication, girls are empowered to also reach for the stars and believe that they can accomplish anything and everything if they just simply set their minds to it (even become a spy – how exciting is that!). This book is about a sophomore girl named Cameron Morgan (a.k.a Cammie the Chameleon) who attends the Gallagher Academy, a spy school for young women that is thought by the general public to be a school for stuck-up rich girls. When Cammie goes on a routine mission and meets Josh, an ordinary boy, their blooming relationship clashes with her not-so-ordinary life that goes on inside the walls of the Gallagher Academy. An entertaining novel with many plot twists and an unlikely romance, this is a must-read. Although some relationships may not seem fully developed by the end of this novel, the rest of the books in the series help to further develop them. Therefore, I would give this first Gallagher Girls book a rating of five out of five stars for being so entertaining and witty. I honestly could not put it down since it was fast-paced and suspense-building. Ally Carter, the author of this novel, I feel, did a really great job at digging deeper and expressing the life of not just a teenage spy, but also that of a teenage girl.
