It’s not often that a four-hour documentary – much less an historical one – turns out to be as gripping as this. Ken Burns’s series documents the “worst man-made ecological disaster in American history,” chronicling the devastation to America's "bread basket" states in the mid-1930s. Perhaps this period is a portent of things to come in America, as fracking, water depletion, and chemical pesticides threaten the land and people again.
