I really, really, REALLY liked the first part of the book. It was super atmospheric, with a huge blizzard bearing down on a New England town. The story is an ensemble-style tale, which I usually enjoy. Several folks mysteriously die during the storm. 12 years later a new storm is blowing in and the ghosts of those lost seem to be returning. I read a review of the book, which commented on how many horror stories often lose their energy once the reveal of the "bad guy" happens. And unfortunately, this is the case with "Snowblind." The author has created potentially interesting bad guys, but there's not a whole lot of explanation about them. And the end of the book moves at such a fast pace, that it's over before you know it. To top it off, the author throws in a "twisty" ending that just kind of left me disappointed. Great premise, but overall the delivery just didn't live up to what I was hoping for.
