In the Ocean at the End of the Lane, Neil Gaiman has produced another thrilling story about what happened to a now middle-aged man when he was a young lad of seven. Coming home to the lovely Sussex countryside for a funeral, our nameless character returns to a farm which he spent time at as a lad. He goes back to a small pond, which the girl, Lettie, age eleven, had claimed was an ocean. Suddenly, memories of the most horrific time of his life came flooding back to him. I really enjoyed this book. It was slightly frightening, but it was a fantastic story. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys thrillers or fantasy stories, or if you are a fan of Neil Gaiman’s other works. Out of five, I would rate this book a five. Catherine, grade 9, of the Yorba Linda Teen Book Bloggers
