I really liked this film!! I had doubts because I am not a big fan of special effects films and superheros not at all. This may sound strange, but I bonded with these characters in much the same way as I did with the first Star Wars movie and ET when I saw them in a theater. The heroes / heroines are not cartoon characters; they are fully developed / flawed humans. I don't want to give anything away, but there were some small vignettes and statements that brought tears to my eyes. Ryan Coogler did an amazing job in directing this film. I could do with less of the CGI, but I was thrilled by the fact that the vast majority of these "special effects" were created and controlled by people of color. I was very pleased by the ending which fulfilled the wishes of one of the heroines. Because I am 70 I remember well seeing Sidney Poitier demonstrate his great skill and dignity in his early films like A Patch of Blue and To Sir, With Love. I have loved Forest Whitaker and Angela Bassett for many years. There have been marvelous films about people of color over the years... Sounder, The Color Purple, Glory. Never before, however, ( to my knowledge ) have people of color in a film held the power to save the world or conquer it. 100 years + is long enough to have waited. Kristi & Abby Tabby
